Emsh on social networks. School of Economics and Mathematics Where and when are classes held at EMS

How to proceed?

It is very easy to apply to us: you need to come on the third Sunday of September to the foyer of the southern entrance of the third humanitarian (educational) building (new building of the Faculty of Economics) of Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov on the Lenin Hills at 9.45 and write an exam in mathematics, as well as a general education test . If both exams are passed successfully, then it remains to come in a week to the third humanitarian building, pass an interview - and you are an EMS student! No need to take something supernatural with you: all you need is a pen, paper, some kind of ID and a bright head! You can register for the exam from the main page of the site.

Is it really completely free?

Yes, schooling is really free. The student makes only a voluntary (400 rubles) registration fee, which is then used to buy paper, cartridges and all sorts of other necessary things necessary to maintain current activities.

Does EMS guarantee admission to the Faculty of Economics of Moscow State University?

EMS does not set itself the goal of preparing an applicant for admission to the economics (or any other) faculty of any university (including Moscow State University).

What are the advantages of EMS when entering the Faculty of Economics of Moscow State University?

Now, when entering the Faculty of Economics of Moscow State University, not a single pre-university organization provides any advantages (priority admission, early exams, and the like), including EMS. However, do not forget about invaluable knowledge that will certainly help you with admission - there are more than enough of them at EMS!

Where and when are classes held at EMS?

Classes at the EMS are held in the classrooms of the Faculty of Economics in the third humanitarian building of Moscow State University () from October to May. Class time - weekdays at 17:20 and at 18:55.

Is it possible to study at EMS in absentia?

The decision to conduct distance courses is made separately, follow the news before each academic year. Usually distance learning at EMS involves a course in mathematics and economics.
Each year, recruitment for a distance course is announced separately - follow the information on the website.

How to prepare for the entrance tests at EMS?

How long is the entrance test?

The general education test lasts 40, 50, 60 minutes for grades 11, 10, 8 and 9, respectively; mathematics: 2, 2.5 and 3 hours for 11, 10, 8 and 9 grades respectively.

What disciplines are taught at EMS?

Every year, EMS students are offered more than 40 different author's courses to choose from. Every year the list of courses changes somewhat, only the basic courses remain constant: Basic Mathematics and Basic Economics. Conventionally, all courses taught at EMS are divided into three areas: economics, mathematics, and the “third way” (which includes all other disciplines, from philosophy and astronomy to English language and literature). The list of courses taught in the current academic year appears a few days before the organizational meeting. You can get acquainted with it in the "Study" section of the EMS website.
The choice of courses is absolutely voluntary, the student himself will determine the subject and the number of courses attended. The only restriction on the choice of courses is that the student must choose at least two courses from different directions as credits.

How many times a week do you need to attend classes?

The schedule of classes for each student of EMS is absolutely individual and completely depends on the courses chosen by the student. Each course at the EMS has a fixed time at which it is read (day of the week and couple), usually it is one couple a week, less often two. The student, choosing the courses that he wants to listen to, thereby composes his schedule.
Thus, the time of classes at the EMS can vary from two classes in one day (since the minimum is to choose two courses) to two classes five days a week (it is simply impossible to attend more courses).

Does EMS have an open day? Are there any open classes?

In the Jubilee Emsh Year (EMS50), we came up with a unique event for schoolchildren who want to study at the EMS, but did not enroll for various reasons: open classes at the School's courses. So, if you didn’t manage to get into the EMS, but the desire for knowledge is still strong, you have a chance to listen to interesting Emsh lectures: in honor of the 50th anniversary of the EMS, separate lecture classes in some courses will be open to all schoolchildren! For a detailed acquaintance with the Open Lectures, study the corresponding section on home page EMS website.

And if you still have questions, study the "Special Courses" section if you want to find out what exactly you can study at EMS, the "Life" section if you want to get acquainted with EMS projects and the How to Apply page if you have already decided to become a part of EMS!

We've researched everything, but questions remain? Ask them at the address or telegram bot EMS: http://t.me/emschbot

School of Economics and Mathematics at the Faculty of Economics of Moscow State University. M. V. Lomonosov

The School of Economics and Mathematics is the only organization of its kind at the Faculty of Economics of Moscow State University, which recently celebrated its 45th anniversary. What is our uniqueness? Firstly, education at the school is completely free. Secondly, our students are given the opportunity to choose their subjects of interest from the many courses taught at the School.

Our goal -give an opportunity:

· schoolchildren - to expand their horizons, feel the atmosphere of the University, learn a lot of new and interesting things, in particular, about the economy;

teachers - to creatively realize themselves and pass on the experience to the next generation.

Our activities

As the name suggests, the School has two main areas of work: economics and mathematics. Along with this, courses are taught in management, literature, culture, programming and many other subjects that are given little attention in the course of a general education school. EMS is not a preparatory course, and although we have courses in basic subjects, the main task of the School is to educate future economists.

EMS students are 9th, 10th and 11th grade students. You can apply to any of these classes. This is easy to do: you need to come to third Sunday of September(in 2013 it will be September 15) to the new building of the Faculty of Economics of Moscow State University (the third humanitarian building) and write a general education test and a test in mathematics. It is advisable for all applicants to register in advance on the EMS website - this will give you the opportunity to start the exam faster. If you successfully passed the tests, then a week later (September 22) you need to come for an interview. Based on the results of these three exams, you are enrolled (or not enrolled) in EMS.

About 300 schoolchildren are admitted to EMS every year. Over the past 5 years, the competition at the EMS has been 2-5 people per place.

EMS is a democratic structure, therefore, in addition to experienced teachers from the Faculty of Economics of Moscow State University, both students and graduate students read their own special courses. EMS gives priority to interactive forms of education: trainings, Case Studies systems, interactive communication with schoolchildren. In addition, EMS keeps in touch with all its alumni and teachers, which allows for the exchange of knowledge between the "old" generation and the "new".

The main wealth of EMS is its people, traditions and unique forms and methods of teaching.

Our projects for the academic year

"Open Championship of Schools in Economics"

In the academic year, the Economics and Mathematics Olympiad was transformed into the first Open Championship of Schools in Economics by the efforts of the EMSH and EF MSU. Within its framework, both team and individual tests were held. Prize-winners and winners received valuable prizes from sponsors. Students of grades 8-11 are invited to participate in the Olympiad. Registration rules and more detailed information can be found on the EMS website and on the Open Championship website (http://*****/).

Summer school

The EMS educational program, the task of which is to give students in grades 9-10 an idea about the entrance exams to the Faculty of Economics of Moscow State University. Summer School students are given review lectures on the most important topics included in the exams, as well as tasks for independent decision followed by their analysis in the classroom. The summer school is held at the end of August in one of the boarding houses near Moscow.

Traveling school

The traditional annual educational and scientific conference, in which teachers and students of EMS, as well as scientists, teachers of higher educational institutions leading experts in various fields of knowledge. VS have been held for 20 years. For five days, in one of the boarding houses near Moscow, lectures are given on economic disciplines, various sections of mathematics and many other sciences, round tables are held, after the lecture, time is allotted for direct communication between different generations of conference participants, and such communication takes place very informally. At lectures, students do not sit at their desks in three rows, but in a circle, some simply sit on the floor. Any listener can ask the lecturer a question or take part in the discussion during the break or after the lecture. Where else can a student listen to a lecture by an academician on economic theory, an assistant to the prime minister on debt restructuring, the first deputy chairman of the Central Bank on the currency crisis? A continuation of this atmosphere are non-lecture events organized at the Higher School in the evenings - various games, quizzes, concerts of the author's song, “What? Where? When?" and KVN.

Prom

Every year, 11th-graders who successfully complete their education at EMS receive diplomas of the School of Economics and Mathematics and sets of 18-20 books for those who graduated with honors and 10-12 books for those who received a regular diploma.
