Boxing side kick training. Boxing punches and their varieties. A key side kick can decide the outcome of the fight

In Thai boxing side punch has an important role, especially on the street, where almost every second tries to strike this type of blow in skirmishes. And this is not easy, given its effectiveness and technically uncomplicated execution. Therefore, everyone should be able to perform this type of strike, exactly as well as defending themselves from it.

Any technical action of a Muay Thai fighter should bear fruit. In terms of strikes, the effectiveness depends on the exact hit. Which is achieved due to its speed and correct technical performance. And not with a wave of his hand from behind, trying to put the entire mass of his carcass. When hit, of course, the enemy will not like it much, but the speed will be very lame, and your opponent is unlikely to just stand and look at this disgrace.

Such side punch characteristic of most of the brave fighters, staggering down the street on Friday evenings and on holidays, sometimes trying to show their ardent disposition and physically convince a person of their point of view. The shorter the stroke amplitude, the faster it can be performed and the more difficult it is to get away from it. Don't swing too hard, it will make you vulnerable and reveal your intentions. In Muay Thai, this punch is often practiced after learning the straight punch.

Side punch can be applied to different distances:

  • Near - at the end point of the blow, the fist is in such a position that its base is parallel to the floor, and the palm "looks" at you.
  • Middle - here the palm of the fist is already looking down.
  • Far - continuing to turn the fist, the palm is turned almost away from you, and the base of the fist is directed upwards.

From a purely physiological point of view, this is the most convenient and effective option.

Technique for performing a side kick with a hand from the front rack:

We get into the front stance. As usual, at first we do not connect the legs. We make the movement as with a direct blow with the hand, but now we try to raise the elbow to lead it along a horizontal level to the side. When working out a side impact, the angle in the elbow bend in the final phase, try to keep about 135 degrees or 45 degrees relative to the outstretched arm.

Now we perform this action, while using the legs. As usual, the movements start with a twist and heel lift, move to the hip, move the body and shoulder, and finally push the arm forward, and we already control what kind of blow will be at the very end.

Technique for performing a side impact with a hand from a combat stance:

Having worked out the full phase of the impact from the front stance, we move into the combat stance. It's all in the pattern. Only perhaps the body will have to be wrapped a little more when hit from the far hand. Trying to hit with one hand.

Then we connect the legs, pelvis, body and shoulder again.

Then try to apply these actions in motion, it is possible with slopes from the same side (if you know how to do them), slightly simulating shadow boxing. And it is not necessary at the initial stages to try to strike in motion. Move for a while, stop, make a hit, and then start moving again. If now it’s impossible to beat while moving, then go back a step and practice it from the rack. In general, any Muay Thai or other martial arts fighter who moves too little becomes an easy target.

Over time, after working on the pears, paws and with a partner for a certain time, you will feel this blow and be able to deliver it well both standing and moving.

An alternative way to learn side punch in Thai boxing:

Since the trajectory of the strike is similar to an elbow strike, you can first learn how to swing it and get used to it a little, just unbend your arm to the desired distance.

Side kicks

Side kicks are widely used in boxing. They are in the technical arsenal of any professional and are used at all distances. Lateral strikes receive additional strength due to the rotational movement of the body and are on the same level with direct strikes in terms of effectiveness.

Side impact.

The blow begins with the extension of the foot of the pushing leg. Then there is a gradual straightening of the legs at the knees. A little later, the rotation begins relative to the vertical axis of the body of the foot, pelvis and torso (Fig. 3.43, A). After the shoulders began to move, the striking arm unbends at the shoulder and elbow joints. The fist moves translationally and rotationally towards the target along an arc (Fig. 3.43, b).

At the moment of contact of the fist with the aim of the movement of the body, they stop due to the blocking of the joints by the antagonist muscles. Shoulder, elbow and fist of the striking hand are in the same horizontal plane, which is perpendicular to the target. The chin is lowered to the chest.

The second hand insures the head and torso against possible oncoming blows. The legs are not fully extended, which is necessary to ensure stability (Fig. 3.43, V).

The classic lateral has several options for execution, differing in the position of the fist and elbow at the moment of contact with the target. In some cases, the fist and elbow may be in different planes (Fig. 3.43, G).

Rice. 3.43 Side impact

The side kick is the most popular among professionals. Tactically, it can be used at any moment of the battle and at all distances.

The absolute world champion James Jeffreys (1899-1905) struck a side strong from an average distance and developed success with a series of blows (Fig. 3.44).

Jack Dempsey finished with a side strong his famous combination, called "Dempsey's sun". It consisted of several dives, with the help of which the boxer got close to his opponents. It was this blow that was his signature, because with his help Dempsey sent his opponents to the floor.

Floyd Patterson used very fast jabs to prepare the side strong. Sometimes he duplicated the side ones, applying the first to the liver area, and the second, the main one, to the head (Fig. 3.45).

Rice. 3.44 James Jeffries

Rice. 3.45 Floyd Patterson (right) and Ali Dopo

It is believed that David Tua cannot win the fight on points. The vast majority of the fights he wins end in a knockout, and it is as a result of the strong side that Tua inflicts in the jump.

Lateral short blow (hook).

After repulsion by the foot of the pushing leg, its rotation begins, as well as the rotation of the pelvis and torso with simultaneous straightening in the knee joints (Fig. 3.46, A). As soon as the body begins to move, the shoulder joint of the striking arm begins to move forward and rotationally. Simultaneously with the movement of the fist towards the target along the curve, there is some extension of the arm at the elbow (Fig. 3.46, b). The degree of extension depends on the distance to the target. If the blow is delivered at close range, the arm in the elbow joint extends minimally or does not extend at all. When striking from an average distance, the arm unbends more (Fig. 3.46, V). There is a variant of applying a short side blow when the fist moves from top to bottom and the elbow at the end of the shock movement is located above the level of the fist (Fig. 3.46, G).

Lateral short blows with equal success can be used both in attack and in counterattack. The “shortness” of the strike, achieved by eliminating (or limiting) movement in the elbow joint, makes it very hard.

The hook is a very formidable weapon. Due to the fact that the period of its implementation and the trajectory of the fist are minimal, the enemy simply does not have time to notice him and take measures to protect. But in order to throw a hook, you need to get close to the enemy, that is, apply preparatory actions.

The great Joe Louis, when preparing the hook, used a whole series of blows. Accentuated lateral short right, he applied last, and the serial work served only to disguise. It was with this blow in the 1948 rematch that Louis knocked out Joe Walcott in the 11th round.

Rice. 3.46 Side short kick

Mike Tyson's hooks were very short in amplitude, almost imperceptible. So, in a 1985 fight with Mark Young, he knocked out his opponent with such a short right hook that even when watching the video in slow motion, it is not entirely clear how Young ended up on the floor. With the same blow in 1986, Tyson knocked out David Yako. In a fight with James Tillis, Tyson first dived away from the blow, as a result of which the enemy “flew” almost behind him, and then delivered a very short, “six-inch” left hook, after which James was on the floor (Fig. 3.47) .

Side kick.

The blow begins with the rotation of the pelvis around the vertical axis of the body. After him, the body turns (Fig. 3.48, A). At the same time, the beating arm unbends and rotates in the shoulder, and then in the elbow joints (Fig. 3.48, b).

Rice. 3.48 Oncoming counterattack with lateral fast to the head with a tilt back

The speed of movement is achieved by excluding extension and rotation in the ankle and knee joints from the impact, which leads to a significant loss in strength. Additional power to the blow can be given by the special rigidity of the kinematic chain of the body at the moment the fist touches the target. This is achieved by tensing the antagonist muscles that block movement in the joints.

Lateral fast are tactically used as feints, that is, as distracting blows. But it is possible to use them as counter strikes.

Lateral long kick (swing).

In this blow, all parts of the body: foot, lower leg, thigh, pelvis, torso, shoulder, forearm and fist are switched on sequentially. The long side kick differs from other side kicks in the larger trajectory of the fist. It has two main options.

First provides for the movement of the fist from top to bottom, by raising the elbow (Figure 3.49). At the end of the shock movement, the shoulder of the striking hand is higher than the second shoulder (Fig. 3.49, G). The punch is often delivered vertically with an inverted fist.

In second variant, the fist, due to the sweeping movement, describes the trajectory of significant curvature in the horizontal plane (Fig. 3.50).

At the end of the swing, the arm is half-straight, the movements in the joints are blocked.

Long hooks are often adopted by undersized boxers and are effectively used in attack at long and medium distances. A serious disadvantage of swings is a significant period and energy intensity. Carrying out these strikes requires careful preparation. Swings are often used as feints. To use long side punches in a counterattack, a heightened sense of the distance and timing of the strike is necessary.

Rice. 3.49 Lateral long from top to bottom

Rice. 3.50 Lateral long in the horizontal plane

The absolute world champion of 1970-1973 (1968-1970 according to the WBC) Joe Fraser used swing quite effectively. During the non-stop attack, he tried to imperceptibly turn the body to the left and shoot with a long left swing. The attack itself with both hands, sometimes somewhat chaotic in appearance, was intended to mask the preparation for the main blow (Fig. 3.51).

Rice. 3.51. Swing Joe Frazier

One of the greatest boxers, the absolute world champion of 1908-1915, Jack Johnson, used swings brilliantly. The dark-skinned boxer, in spite of all nationalistic America, over and over again sent another white man into a knockout with precisely these blows. "Black Jack" made up whole series of swings.

The biggest "white hope", the favorite of all America, James Jeffries, in 1910, after several hurricane series of swings in the head and torso, could not continue the fight and, completely beaten, was withdrawn from the fight by seconds.

Technique

A side kick, also known as a hook, can be performed at three distances by bending the arm at the elbow.

The main points of damage are usually the temple, the area behind the ear, the jaw and the liver. Hits on these points entail painful stun effects.

The impact is based on the force of movement of the legs, the transfer of the center of gravity, the twisting of the body.

Its advantage is that it almost does not require a swing of the hand, thereby becoming a stealthy, fast and rather dangerous knockout punch.

The left hook is especially productive. How so you ask? After all, the vast majority of boxers are right-handed, and their left hand is much weaker.

The fact is that if you are right-handed, then in the stance your left hand is closer to the enemy. Your task is to use this, if they swing with the right, correctly twist the body and hit one of the active points, then the result will be even more than just a powerful right hook.

The power of the left hook has been repeatedly confirmed by such fighters as Andy Sawyer, Michalis Zambidis, Tommy Morrison, Gennady Golovkin.

There is another way of applying a side kick, which was actively used by Mike Tyson.

A strike using a jump. If you choose the right moment, then you can easily knock your opponent down.

As previously mentioned, this strike is based on the rotation of the body and the strength of the legs. If you combine these two factors into a single strong momentum with a sharp knee extension, then you will knock people out, just like Mike Tyson.

Tricks

Now, as promised, I will make a small revision.

Boxing is undoubtedly a good means of self-defense, but in order to get the most out of it in a street fight, you can slightly modify the classic technique.

If you form your fist slightly differently when throwing the hook, you will get a powerful nuclear weapon!

This strike comes from such a great art as karate, and its name is ryutoken, which means the head of a dragon.

The dragon's head breaks through the ribs with ease and inflicts very painful pinpoint strikes due to its small area. You can try lightly tapping your ribs right now and feel the effect. Imagine how your opponent will feel if you put all your strength and weight into this small point!

How to do?

It's simple, form your palm into a fist and extend the phalanx of the middle finger, fix it with your thumb and voila, the dragon's head is already in your hand.

But do not rush to use it right away, like any blow, it needs preliminary work, and besides that, it also needs stuffing, since the joints on the fingers are initially quite delicate and it will be very unpleasant if you suddenly hit a hard surface like an elbow.

A pear will help you best in working out. It is solid and does not run anywhere, thereby allowing you to accurately understand and master this blow.

Advice! Before moving on to some tricks, learn the basic classical technique. To study and practice boxing techniques at home, there is such a wonderful auxiliary course " Boxing lessons for beginners". By clicking on the link, you will find a huge video course in boxing technique, where each blow is analyzed in detail. In addition, all the study of technology is collected in such a way that it will not be difficult for you to study it at home and successfully apply it on the street. This course will give you the opportunity to:

  1. Deliver crushing blows with both hands
  2. Learn all the punches and tactics that are known in boxing.
  3. Achieve penetrating punches without carrying more weight.
  4. Move like the wind so no one can hit you.
  5. To beat oncoming blows that each time will beat off the desire to attack from your opponent.

All this and much more you can find in this video course.

Let's talk about physics. preparing

At the moment, the vast majority of people are forced to work, they do not have enough time to take care of their body, go to the gym, carry barbells, and so on ...

Therefore, a team of resourceful athletes and inventors came up with a simulator. This is actually a very handy tool. In total, in just 15 minutes a day, your arms will become much stronger and stronger. It is not for nothing that in the preparation of special forces they use all the Bizon equipment, after which the guys bend nails with their fingers.

But if you have an ocean of free time and want to work on your body on your own, without using different simulators, you should turn to the old grandfather's exercise - push-ups!

Properly performed push-ups with regular exercises will pump the whole body. How to do push-ups correctly can be devoted to a separate topic, but in a nutshell, your task is to keep the body parallel to the floor, straining the whole body, lower your chest to the ground completely and slowly straighten up. You will learn a lot of useful things by reading about and.

Learn the basic technique, but do not limit yourself to it, undermine each strike for yourself, invent chips, then your technique will be unique and unpredictable.

Boxing is considered one of the toughest sports and is preferred by many for its ability to practice a knockout punch. He is so strong that he will help to defeat the enemy in the ring in a couple of seconds and give a worthy rebuff in a street fight. It is desirable to work it out in sparring, but some exercises can be performed at home. Let's talk more about how to deliver a knockout punch.

How to properly punch?

Sports, both amateur and professional, are a constant risk of injury if the execution technique is violated. There are 5 main strokes, all the rest (about 12) are their varieties.

The most common is jab . It is applied with the front hand. The target is the head or body of the sparring partner (opponent). The fist should be parallel to the ground, the arm should be fully extended. Protect the face and solar plexus at the same time (with the fist and elbow of the far hand, respectively).

The disadvantage of the jab is that it is not as strong as any other. Plus - the ability to keep the opponent (sparring partner) in constant tension, while defending - to keep him at a distance.

Cross applied with a far hand to the body of a partner (opponent) or his head. This is done quickly and along the shortest path. The body needs to be deployed, the weight of the body should be transferred to the leg that is forward. The attacker's shoulder must be at the same level as the target. In this case, it is better to bend the legs at the knees.

Minus the blow: when applying it, you have to take an unusual position of the body. This means it takes time to work out. Plus - in its accuracy and in the fact that after application it is easy to dodge the enemy's counterattack.

When applied swing the shock arm must be pulled back and straightened. After that, deploy the body, make a "dive" head down. The hand, before it reaches its target (partner's head), needs to describe a large radius.

The downside is that it takes time to capture and actually strike, and the opponent has time to “close”, dodge. Plus - in the strength that the hand manages to gain while describing the "arc".

Hook boxers call it the main side kick. He will help in the clinch. The target in this case is also the opponent's head or body. When applying, the shoulder should be pulled back, the body should be untwisted, the arm bent at the elbow. It is important that the fold is 90°, otherwise the impact will lose power.

Plus - in its "invisibility", because it is applied without a swing, strength and speed. Minus: you have to “work” on the oblique muscles of the abdomen: you have to use them first of all.

Uppercut also used in the clinch, at the moment when the opponent forgets to bring his elbows together while defending. It is applied from the bottom up with the front hand (at this moment the weight is transferred to the front leg) or the far one (a step forward with the far leg, the weight is transferred to it). In this case, the fist must be thrown so that its inner part is facing the attacker. It is directed to the chin or solar plexus (the goal is to knock down the breath).

Cons: It leaves the attacker defenseless. Plus, as in the case of applying a hook, in its strength and "stealth".

How to develop punching power?

The strength of individual fighters is legendary. They become heroes, gain world fame. Nature endows some with remarkable strength, others have to perfect their technique for many months, so that as a result they will hit the enemy with just one blow. Becoming a knockout is hard, but it's worth trying. This will require the implementation of special exercises for the development of strength. There are a lot of them, and you should not do absolutely everything in one workout. It is enough to choose those that seem the most effective. For advice, contact a trainer. He will help dose the load and follow the technique.

Here are some effective strength building exercises:

    push ups;

    barbell bench press;

    kettlebell snatch;

    kettlebell push;

    exercises with a boxing bag;

    work with paws;

    sledgehammer exercise.

Push ups

A kind of hallmark of any professional boxer can be called push-ups on fists (or fingers) on the bare floor. They acquire this skill not out of a desire to show off their achievements, although there is something to envy. This is a necessity, thanks to which it is possible to develop sufficient impact force and at the same time “harden” the knuckles so that they are less injured.

Push-ups can be done as follows:

    on fists or fingers at a fast pace (in this case, hands should be placed slightly wider than shoulders, and elbows should move along the body);

    on the palms (between approaches to make cotton);

    on one hand (either left or right).

Barbell

The bench press is performed lying down. You can’t stop, so you need to pick up such a weight so that you can do up to 12 repetitions at an average pace.

Weight

The snatch is performed alternately with each hand. Kettlebell weight - 24 kg. Performed, like push-ups, at a fast pace. The load is created on the muscles of the legs and back.

In order to make a push, you have to work with two kettlebells at the same time. The weight is still the same - 24 kg. Performed at a fast pace.

Punching bag

Do not neglect the work on sports equipment. For example, powerful blows are recommended to be worked out on a boxing bag:

    stand up and deliver a single blow as if you are going to punch a bag:

    hit "two", apply it with one hand or alternately with each, but be sure the first is weak, the second is stronger;

    swing the bag and strike back; the more powerful they are, the better.

These exercises can be performed both during training and at home, provided that you have a boxing bag and its characteristics meet all the necessary requirements.

Paws

Boxing paws are called one of the best shells, universal. With their help, you can well simulate the movement of the enemy during the fight. In this case, you can not do without the help of a partner:

    the sparring partner keeps the paw down, periodically raises it sharply and takes it to the left or right, up or down; the task of the boxer is to strike the paw, his position is a stand with legs close together (with a lunge);

    sparring partner keeps the paw at the same level, but constantly moves; the task of the boxer is to hit the paw;

    the sparring partner holds a paw in one hand, and a rope in the other, with which he beats the boxer's arm if he, after hitting the paw, does not have time to pull it back in time.

Sledgehammer

An effective exercise for developing strength is hitting a rubber tire with a sledgehammer. It is often performed by CrossFitters. The goal is to develop strength and endurance. Note that no less importance is attached to concentration: the exercise is quite difficult and to a certain extent dangerous. The execution technique is reminiscent of chopping firewood with an ax: the sledgehammer rises high and is retracted behind the head, and then sharply falls onto the tire. Blows should be delivered in a straight line. It is important to prevent twisting of the spine: this increases the risk of injury.

Punching in boxing

The peculiarity of the knockout blow is that it is strong, inconspicuous and applied as quickly as possible. The goal is to hit the opponent so that he has the strength to continue the fight. A coach will help to deliver a blow, but if desired, special exercises can be performed at home. First, let's look at what a knockout punch is. First stall (surprise), then acceleration (strength and speed.)

breakdown

Before striking, the fighter's head should be cold, and all muscles should be relaxed. His task is to deceive the enemy, to look as if he has no idea to cripple someone. By the way, you can't knock out if you're furious. This blow is powerful, when it is applied, all muscles are involved, since you need to beat not with your hand, but with your whole body. At the same time, excessive muscle tension should not be allowed: it may turn out that both the speed of the blow and its trajectory will change. As a result, the boxer will not hit his opponent, but will fall on him.

How to learn to hit sharply? There are several exercises: strike

    after sound;

    after touch;

    on a sheet of newsprint.

After the sound . It is performed as follows: the boxer takes a fighting stance, the partner stands in a place where he is not visible, and makes some kind of sound, for example, claps his hands. Upon hearing the beep, the boxer must deliver a whipping blow. His task is to do this as quickly as possible so that as little time as possible passes between the sound and the impact. If desired or necessary, complicate: alternate clapping your hands and a voice signal.

After touch. This exercise resembles the previous one, just the boxer strikes not after the sound he hears, but after the partner slightly touches him (different parts of the body) or pushes him more noticeably. Throw away as quickly as possible.

On a sheet of newsprint. The size of the sheet is 30x30 cm. The partner holds it by the upper corners. The task of the fighter is to hit with such speed that the newspaper is torn. This exercise is aerobatics, an ideal worth approaching.

Overclocking

The second component of a knockout blow is acceleration. In other words, speed matters. The distance to the target must be equal to the length of the boxer's arm in order to be able to develop the desired speed. Note that you do not need to swing, otherwise the enemy will notice this preparation for striking. This cannot be allowed, as mentioned earlier, the knockout punch must be unexpected.

The following exercises will help develop speed:

    exercises with a rubber band;

    blows in front of a candle flame.

Rubber Band Exercises is constructed as follows: it must be thrown over a boxing bag or fixed on the wall. The boxer stands with his back to the bag (wall), takes the ends of the tourniquet in his hands and delivers single direct blows, trying to do it as quickly as possible.

Blows in front of a candle flame. This is another exercise that helps develop speed (sharpness) and punching power. The boxer must strike an imaginary opponent, but use a lit candle instead of a bag or paw. The fist must stop before the flame. It is necessary to achieve that it goes out from the directed air flow.

Hand hardening

There is another nuance that should not be forgotten: hardening of the hands. It is quite risky for an unprepared person to deliver a knockout blow, since there is a high probability of injury. It is necessary not only to clench your fist correctly (the thumb should be located on top of the second phalanges of the index and middle), and to prepare the back of the hand for such loads. How to do it? Many have probably watched feature films more than once, where the main character broke several bricks with the edge of his palm or punched hard surfaces with his fingertips. This is achieved by a few and is achieved by many years of hard training. It is also possible to prepare brushes for applying a knockout blow. Push-ups and bag work will help.

You need to do push-ups first on soft surfaces, and then on hard ones, on the floor. Do not immediately create an unbearable load for yourself by pushing up from the floor. So you can easily injure your knuckles. Instead of a positive result, you get a negative one. Start small, with light exercises, and then you will be able to “walk” on the floor on your fists, lying down.

The boxing bag is designed specifically for work with gloves. Some athletes make it at home, and if you use the right stuffing, then the density of this projectile will closely match the density of the human body. How to work on the bag? The same exercises as for strength development will do.

So, the coach will help to deliver a knockout blow. Will have to work on the rack and proper application. For this, there are special exercises that you can work out at home. It is important to remember that you should hit unexpectedly, quickly, powerfully and right on target.

Punches in boxing, a technique that is not as easy to learn as it might seem at first glance, are few. But this allows you to achieve high efficiency of their use in a duel. Anyone can learn to box, regardless of the level of physical fitness. At the same time, it is not at all necessary to become a professional athlete in order to know how to hit correctly. Boxing is not only an excellent workout for all muscle groups, striking, learning defense techniques, but also creating a qualitatively new level of psychological preparedness.

Basic boxing technique

Boxing training begins with learning the correct stance. The body is relaxed, while the boxer should be as concentrated as possible. A beginner should be comfortable defending and attacking easily with both hands. For balance, the toe of the front foot and the heel of the back foot should be on the center line. It is necessary to evenly distribute the weight between the legs, slightly bending the knees. The chin is lowered on one side and pressed to the shoulder, the hand covers the jaw, and the elbow covers the side. Be sure to remember to breathe. Do not delay, but do not breathe rapidly.

The basis of boxing technique is rationality and consistency. Each next action follows from the previous one. At the same time, the boxer must perform attacking elements as quickly as possible, spending a minimum amount of energy.

The technique itself implies the balance of the boxer's actions. Striking is the means of achieving victory, but coordination of movements makes it possible to carry out an effective attack. Training is aimed at ensuring that the boxer can move around in a fighting stance for a long time. He develops skills that allow him to carry out attacks while in intermediate positions.

Basic punches in boxing

For a beginner, it is not enough just to apply attacking elements. It is necessary to know how to deliver a blow so that with the slightest effort it gives a crushing result and is safe for the boxer himself. There are only three basic punches in boxing - straight, bottom, side. They are applied both with the left and right hand:

  1. Left straight - jab. The longest punch in boxing, in which the boxer remains as protected as possible and creates room for himself to further attack. A good series of attacking moves always starts with the jab.
  2. Right straight - cross. A properly placed working hand is a formidable weapon. It is applied less frequently than the jab. But it is so powerful that it is used to knock out the enemy with one blow.
  3. Left side - hook. A serious power reception, dangerous for its execution at close range. The hook in boxing is often thrown to the body to hit the opponent's liver.
  4. Low kick - uppercut. If it is correctly placed, then it comes out stronger and faster than the direct one. Well suited at a time when the opponent is approaching.

All blows can be carried out both to the head and to the body. The classic left-handed stance is suitable for right-handers. People with the left working hand become in the right-hand stance.

Each hit is useful for a specific situation. For maximum effectiveness, it is necessary to use bundles of blows. Inflict several blows at once, without waiting for the enemy to start attacking. When throwing direct blows, one should try to force the opponent to open up in order to deliver a quick decisive blow.

The most vulnerable and unprotected places suitable for strikes:

  • blows to the jaw;
  • side blows to the body, to the liver;
  • piercing of the chest in the area of the solar plexus;
  • dangerous blows to the heart.

Striking

Correctly delivering a punch in boxing is a paramount task for any coach. More important may be only the development of defensive skills in order to avoid possible injuries and damage during sparring and training. The technique of blows has been worked out for decades. There are several basic techniques on how to properly strike, which are suitable for all techniques performed.

Any workout should start with a warm-up. Work out all muscle groups. Often, boxing training is done from the top down. Starting with the hands and ending with the feet. Before practicing strikes, the hands must be wrapped in bandages to fix the joints.

When punches are being practiced, the arm itself should be relaxed, while the fist should be compressed as much as possible at the moment of contact with the body of the opponent. For direct and side impacts, the fist must be twisted so that at the time of the attack the palm is turned down. For each strike, a step is taken and the body is tucked in to give momentum. A direct blow in boxing is carried out constantly. It helps to keep the right distance and pull the opponent apart. It is necessary to beat a side kick in boxing when the opponent lowers his hand or, conversely, raises it, opening the body. Lower blows are carried out in counterattacks when approaching.

Proper punching technique in boxing increases the power and speed of the attack. Long practice of punches allows the body to train muscle memory. This has a positive effect on the work of a boxer in sparring or a real fight. A trained body subconsciously reacts to the opponent's actions. Boxing training must necessarily take place under the guidance of an experienced trainer using protective equipment. When performing techniques, the body itself will tell you how to deliver a punch in boxing.

Speed Exercises

Punch speed in boxing can be critical to winning.

Sharp biting blows can both demoralize the enemy and knock him out with a successful hit in poorly protected places.

Every boxer needs to know how to increase punch speed. Let's look at a few fundamental exercises:

  1. Work with weights - stand in a rack and throw your hands with extra weight. Regular dumbbells or small kettlebells will do. Conduct a shadow fight or several approaches with practicing punch combinations.
  2. Work with an expander - tie one end to the mount, the other to the hand and fight with a shadow or with a partner. An elastic expander or elastic band will add additional load when working out strikes.
  3. Exercises for general physical activity. Push-ups, pull-ups, work on the uneven bars will do. A trained body is generally more suitable for boxing.

Contraindications for boxing

Boxing is far from the easiest sport, which means that it has a number of contraindications for practicing. Boxing is prohibited for people with the following diseases:

  • diseases of the nervous system;
  • cardiovascular diseases;
  • respiratory problems;
  • blood diseases;
  • disorders of the genitourinary system;
  • diseases of the musculoskeletal system.

Boxing equipment

What do you need to bring to your first lesson? There are only a few things every boxer should have to minimize the risk of injury in training and competition.

Bandages are the first and most commonly used equipment. They serve to protect the hands of a boxer. Reel even outside of sparring. The coach will teach you the correct technique for wrapping your fingers in the first lesson.

Mouth guard. A must have if you're going to spar. Even in training combat, it is possible to get chipped or even lose teeth, or even bite off your tongue.

For beginners, it is advisable to have a helmet. Maybe not in the first lesson, but in the future it will definitely come in handy. Boxing is a rather tough sport in which there are serious injuries. It is better to play it safe and avoid such consequences.
