Fallout 4 how to repair power armor. Are there other ways

In this guide, we will show you how to repair, modify and dye power armor. We will also show where the magazines are located, giving various options for coloring the suit.

There are five versions of Power Armor in the game: Raider Power Armor, T-45, T-51, T-60 and X-01. Where you can find it, we told in. Here we will only talk about its operation.

Power armor is one of the more interesting aspects of the Fallout games and is often seen as a symbol of the unstoppable. technical progress. But unlike the previous parts, in Fallout 4 players are given the opportunity to get their own metal armored suit at the very beginning of the game.

Since the very first installment, the Fallout series has given players the ability to become a metal Goliath through the use of armor, an advanced suit that is an integral part of this game series. In Fallout 4, players can change and modify the elements of power armor, paint it in accordance with individual tastes and style of passage. Just like a rare classic car needs repair and maintenance, so power armor needs to be diligently cared for.

Tips for using Power Armor:

  • Your armor can be stolen! So leaving it, take out the nuclear unit;
  • Active classes quickly consume the charge of the nuclear unit;
  • Collect Hot Rod magazines to unlock paint schemes and perks;
  • Skills Science!, Blacksmith and Gunsmith are required to create advanced mods.

Main characteristics

Power armor protects the character's entire body. It consists of a main frame and six modules: a torso, four limb modules and a helmet. The most important part of the suit is the nuclear block, which is required for the armor to work. Without it, the suit turns into a sedentary iron coffin.

When wearing power armor, the damage received by the character, including from radiation, is reduced. It gives players a boost in strength, which increases the maximum weight they can carry. The armor also prevents all fall damage, allowing you to jump from rooftops into the thick of enemies.

However, don't get carried away. The nuclear block depletes very quickly, and even faster when running in a suit: try to run a little in power armor, and notice how quickly the nuclear block charge arrow drops. Hidden movement, on the contrary, saves energy, but it is not convenient to use it all the time. As a general rule, it's best to save power armor for boss fights.

Players can get their first Power Armor shortly after exiting Vault 111. After talking to the Sanctuary Hills, travel to Concord and free the people at the Freedom Museum in the quest "". In the second half of the quest, players are given a fully functioning suit complete with a nuclear unit.

You can use the armor as is, or you can repair and modify it. You can also buy or steal individual components, which will require much more effort.

Modification and repair

When well modified, power armor can turn you into a real Iron Man. For repair and modification, you first need to find an armor service station. It's the big yellow frame next to the workshops. For example, they are in Sanctuary Hills and at the Red Rocket gas station. And in the course of the game you will meet service stations in the most unexpected places. There are no problems with this.

By looking at the armor you can always see a list of components to repair/modify/replace. This does not require a service station:

To replace modules, click "Details" while standing next to the armor (and not the service station), and use the desired module from the inventory.

If there is no station nearby, then you can only replace one module with another. Repairs and modifications require a service station.

Power Armor Repair

To carry out repairs, stand in armor next to the service station and exit it. Next, go to the station and click "Use".

Select the defective items and click "Repair" if you have the materials you need to repair. Suits cannot fully function with broken parts, so repairs must be done regularly.

Power Armor Mod

To modify, select the desired module and click Modify. Depending on the parts you have, you will see available options upgrade.

For each modification level, you can view the required components.

If you do not have enough spare parts, but there are items that can be disassembled into the necessary things, then this will happen automatically:

Many modules require aluminum, glue, copper, springs, etc. to be upgraded, so make a note of it the right materials for their further search.

There is different types modifications that change the functionality of power armor. Base mods offer various levels of protection, such as damage resistance and resistance to energy attacks. Material mods, such as active armor, return half of the damage dealt to the attacker and provide other bonuses. Many modifications require the costume to consist of the same mods, otherwise there will be no bonus:

Different mods can be applied to different pieces of armor to activate powerful bonuses. The effects of different mods are often based on the function of the armor component. For example, arm mods improve melee combat, while leg mods affect walking speed and damage when jumping on enemies from above. A helmet can be equipped with a flashlight, a jet pack is used to increase mobility, a Tesla Coil in the torso deals energy damage to nearby enemies.

Browse through the mod options to find the one best suited to your play style. To access advanced armor modification options, it is necessary to develop the Science!, Blacksmith and Gunsmith skills. For example, to create a jetpack, you need the fourth level of the Science perks! and Gunsmith.

Power armor can be dyed, also receiving bonuses for it. Paint options are available for every armor component except Raider Power Armor. New color options can be obtained by completing quests for certain factions or by reading Hot Rod magazines (where to find them is written below).

nuclear blocks

As we mentioned earlier, nukes are the lifeblood of armor. These precious batteries can be purchased from merchants (about 500 caps each) or taken from generators, abandoned suits and random containers in the Wasteland.

Look for them in basements, as generators are usually found there. If you plan to use Power Armor frequently, try to keep a supply of Fusion Cores. If the block is depleted while the armor is equipped on you, the spare will automatically activate.

Keep an eye on your energy levels while wearing the suit so that you don't get immobilized at the wrong moment. Running, walking, VATS deplete the nuclear unit. When the charge is used up, the powered suit starts to move very slowly, forcing it to leave. If this happens during a firefight or a quest, you will have to abandon it and come back for the armor later.

On the map, power armor is shown as a helmet icon, so it is impossible to lose it.

Fast travel can be done inside Power Armor even with a fully depleted nuclear unit. To manually replace a nuclear block, walk up to the armor and click "Change" to insert the block into the armor's inventory in the same way as changing its parts. Power armor can be stolen by enemies, so take out the power block while leaving it!

Put the time and effort into learning and modifying Power Armor and it will help you survive life-threatening situations and defeat difficult enemies.

How to change the color of power armor

To repaint armor, open an armor service station, select an armor component and its coloring option. When applying the Hot Rod coloration to all components, Agility is increased by 1 point. Armor painting is free of charge.

How to get different color options:

  • Complete the Call for Freedom quest as the Minutemen to obtain the T-45 Minutemen coloration option;
  • complete the quest "Conspiracy" for the faction "Railroad" to get a variant for the T-51;
  • Complete the Atomic Cats quest for the T-60 variant;
  • Complete the Brotherhood of Steel: Shadow of Steel quest to get the BOS variant for the T-60;
  • Complete the Nuclear Family Institute quest to get an option for X-01;
  • to open red.

Location of Hot Rod Magazines

The first magazine can be found near Sanctuary in the cemetery of old robots. It lies on a table inside a small concrete building:

The other one is in the Atomic Cats Garage, guys who are professionally engaged in modifying power armor. Find the trailer of Zeke - the leader of the Atomic Cats, the magazine is on the table near the bed.

How to use Power Armor?

Unlike other Bethesda games (Fallout series), Power Armor in Fallout 4 is not the best defensive equipment. For this reason, you can get it already in the first half hour (or hour) at the beginning of the game. At the same time, Power Armor does not make the hero's movements as difficult as it was before. Therefore, you need to know how to properly manage this outfit.

Power Armor consists of:

  • basics;
  • six modules (limbs, head and torso);
  • Energy cores (Armor battery).

In order for the equipment to be complete, all three of the above components. You can get them in the following ways:

  • Complete many different quests, collect and sell everything that comes to hand. If you have a lot of caps, go to Goodneighborhood or similar places and buy the base there. Perhaps along the way you will encounter raiders with powerful modules in the loot.
  • Start the second story quest called "When Freedom Calls"("When Freedom Calls"). You may or may not finish it. The main thing is to talk to Codsworth after leaving the shelter, then go to Concord and save the inhabitants at the Museum of Freedom. This will give you Power Armor.
  • Or you can just wander around the Wasteland: there are some locations with abandoned Power Armor [internal link]. There is always an Energy Core near the abandoned Armor, so these finds will be useful to you. After taking out the Power Armor, go to the garage at the Red Rocket Station (not far from the location where you appear at the beginning of the game).

Repair and change of modules

Every workshop has yellow power armor frame. When you get close to it, you can shuffle items from your inventory onto the frame, similar to how you do it with a crafting workbench. Going close to the frame, exit the Power Armor: then the previously inaccessible crafting option will turn on. If it does not turn on, get even closer to the frame. Now you can go to the crafting menu and repair Armor elements.

In addition, you have the option to replace individual parts. This will require a lot of materials, and for the most complex parts, you will need points in blacksmithing and science. But it's always a good idea to start by installing basic upgrades that provide bonuses (such as damage resistance).

Each part of the Armor can be dyed. You can get paints by finding "Hot Rodder" magazines. If you paint everything in one color, then you will open a bonus.

You have the option to also change the standard modules in Power Armor if you find others. For example, the Armor you find in Concord has modules like the T-45. And the raiders have at their disposal the most popular modules. Their defense is rather weak, but other parameters are good.

To change a module, approach your Power Armor (but not the frame!) and select the appropriate function. You can assemble Armor from different elements and replace modules depending on your goals for using equipment and playing style. If you want, even collect a second Power Armor and use one or the other during the game. And besides, the modules can be dropped into a box near the workbench, so as not to be dragged around with them everywhere.

However, there is one detail that Power Armor cannot do without. These are Energy Cores, that is, in fact, the batteries of your Armor. They can be bought, found in various corners and pulled out of generators.

In the event that one Core is "village", it will automatically be replaced with a fresh one (provided that you have a spare Core in your inventory). Well, if suddenly you don’t have spare “batteries”, then get out of the Armor and find a new Core. (Your equipment will be marked on the map so you don't lose it.) True, you will have to insert it manually, but the Armor will work again and you can return to the game again!

Power armor is a special type of equipment in Fallout 4, as it functions not as a simple armor, but as a vehicle that gives the player incredible protection. Compared to the previous parts of Fallout, then in part 4 for Power Armor, Energy Cores are needed. This article details all the information about this armor, its modifications, repair elements and locations.

nuclear blocks

Power armor functions thanks to nuclear blocks. Their charge is consumed during the following actions:

  1. using VATS;
  2. run;
  3. powerful attacks;
  4. acceleration.

Once the battery is fully charged, your movement speed will slow down, but you will still be able to use VATS and deliver powerful attacks. If during the discharge of the battery you have another one with you, then the replacement will occur automatically.

Nuclear blocks are pulled out of old generators, which can most often be found on rooftops and basements, or bought from merchants. You can make fast travel without removing armor and even with a completely discharged battery.

Thanks to a small indicator in the lower right corner of the screen, you can see the battery level, as well as the number of spare blocks.

Power armor consists of a set of armored components and a frame. Each piece of armor increases defense. You can use the frame even without elements. Thanks to it, you will also be protected from falling and damage, increase damage in close combat, and be able to carry more things.

Over time, the elements of the armor are damaged. The status of the elements can be seen on the left side of the screen. If they are red, they are badly damaged and need to be replaced. If there are empty sections on the indicator, then the element is destroyed or completely absent.

To remove or attach a new element of armor, it must be selected in the "Items" - "Clothes" tab or in the workshop. Elements are being repaired in the power armor workshop. You must select the damaged component and press the space bar.

Power armor can change color, increase protection, reduce energy costs, add temporary effects and bonuses to parameters thanks to modifications.

Most modules require glue, springs, aluminum, copper, etc. to be upgraded.

Different mods can be applied to different parts of the armor to activate powerful bonuses. Generally, mod effects are based on functional armor components. For example, arm mods increase melee damage, and leg mods increase damage when jumping on opponents from above and movement speed. The jet pack is used to increase mobility, the helmet is equipped with a flashlight, and thanks to the Tesla coil in the torso, opponents near the hero receive energy damage.

To gain access to cool armor modification options, you need to develop the Blacksmith, Science and Gunsmith skills.

In Fallout 4, the developers decided to take a slightly different path than in the previous game in the series - if earlier you had to work hard to get power armor, then in the new part you will be given it almost from the very beginning. And here already there are a lot of questions about its use. First of all, it falls apart pretty well in battle under the onslaught of enemy bullets, so in Fallout 4 you definitely can’t avoid repairing power armor.

Let's start fixing

So how do you fix power armor in Fallout 4? First of all, you need to find any settlement of both friendly characters and some raiders and find a special repair station there. You can move to Sanctuary - there the station will also be available to you from the very beginning of the game.

We come close and exit the power armor - it will automatically be set to the desired position and an item will open for you using a station for improvements or repairs.

Inside, we scroll through the list of armor components and when we get to the damaged one, we will see the active button “T. To fix ". We press the corresponding button on the keyboard and then confirm the repair.

How to repair power armor in Fallout 4

After pressing "T", you will in any case be given a message that a certain amount of resources will be spent. Thus, if you are missing some element for repair, then you can see which one and get it from the trash.

Important!

When the parts of the armor break completely, they are moved to the backpack and after repairing, you must first put on the power armor again, and then open the backpack and place the repaired part on it again.

By properly upgrading your power armor, you can significantly ease the passage and stop being afraid of enemies.

In addition to various types of power armor, for example, T-45, T-45b, T-45d, power armor of the raiders T-45DM, T-51, T-51b, as well as rare armor T-60, T-60a, T-60b , T-60c, T-60d and the unique X-01 power armor, there are various modifications for it, for example, the X-01 Mk.II and X-01 Mk.VI differ in their characteristics by more than two times.

Power armor has a frame and six main modules - one for the torso, one for the head, and four each for the limbs. The most important part, of course, is the nuclear charge module, which, with the help of modifications, can be improved in order to waste less energy.

To carry out modifications, a separate machine is required - the “Armor Maintenance Station”, which can be found at the Red Rocket truck stop and Sanctuary Hills. You need to put your power armor directly into the workbench, and then open the interaction menu.

After that, you can look at the available modifications for each of the six pieces of power armor. Can change as basic model, A, B, C, D, E, F:

The material from which it is made, for example, to make it titanium or explosion-proof:

So put a modification, for example, a blood purifier or servos:

Different parts of power armor have different modifications:

Mods consume a lot various materials, so stock up on steel, lead, aluminum, fiber optics, glue, electronic circuits, and other materials.

We note again that different parts of power armor contain both the same and different modifications, which allows you to make one power armor for assault operations, another for moving around the Wasteland, and a third for exploring hard-to-reach places, for example, by putting jetpacks on it, as well as increasing protection against radiation:

However, in order to get these upgrades, you will need to upgrade a number of perks, including perks from the Intelligence, Strength, and other lines.

You can also install modifications to the frame from different types of power armor, combining different options with each other. You can get them not only by searching the Wasteland, but also by completing tasks, as well as buying from merchants.

Where to find T-60 power armor in Fallout 4?

This is a fairly rare armor that has higher parameters in terms of protection against damage, radiation and electricity. Now we will tell you where you can find it.

AT There are only two factions in Fallout 4 that use this model - the Brotherhood of Steel and the Atom Cats - and you can either get it for free by completing a bunch of quests and gaining the faction's trust, steal it if you can , and also buy, for several tens of thousands of credits.

We won’t tell you how it can be stolen, we’d better explain that getting it for free is quite simple - you need to join the Brotherhood by completing a series of story and side quests, then during the initiation into the Knights of the Brotherhood, you will receive this armor as a gift on an airship Brotherhood. In the same place it can be bought from the overseer Teagan.

The Atomic Cats may well replace the Brotherhood, for this you also need to complete a number of quests for them, after which you will be allowed to visit the store, which is run by a character named Rhodey. If you are not interested in good relations with this gang, then you can always rob them.

Parts for the T-60 power armor can be found in a place called Fiddler's Green Trailer Park. You will first have to break into a room under a characteristic sign in a nearby office building, you can do this either by hand or through the terminal - this is how you get a key that opens trailer.

It is necessary to find a yellow trailer with an orange line on the side, it is located north of the office. T-60 power armor will be inside, but you must be at least level 25, and better than level 30, otherwise you will get T-51 armor.

Where can I find X-01 Power Armor in Fallout 4?

This is a unique power armor in Fallout 4, so you have to run after it - it is entirely in a single copy, and its component parts are scattered across the Wasteland. Only characters from level 35 can get it, and even level 40 will be better. This decision of the developers is justified by the fact that it has the best security parameters.

So before you start searching in a certain place, make a save so that if the wrong spare part falls out, you will come later, being at a higher level. Keep in mind that searches are conducted in places with high radiation, full of traps and enemies, so prepare well.

The first instance of X-01 can be found in Installation K-213 located in the sea (southwest of the game world map). You can get there through the hatch in the "Abandoned Shack" (Abandoned Shack), located on the western border (two cells up on the map from the southwest corner). There are a lot of synthetics waiting for you there, so you have to kill them. Power armor is on the lower floor, behind the stairs. She is missing her left arm and right leg, but you can make them yourself.

The second copy of the X-01, an advanced version of the Mk.3, is located in a place called the Custom House Tower, which is on the coast, east of Diamond City. You need to find a building called "Court 35" (Court 35), go there and use the elevator - it will take you to the very top of the tower. There you will be attacked by a number of robots, destroying which you need to go into the room from which they left and press the red buttons - then the door leading to the armor will open.

Some parts of the power armor can be found in the National Guard Training Yard in the armory behind the main building. You will need the skill of a master burglar or a master hacker to get there, the terminal, by the way, is in the barracks nearby. As soon as you get inside, beware of traps - if they work, a giant security robot will be waiting for you outside to properly pile on.

There is a concrete guardhouse halfway down the road between Nordhagen Beach and Fort Strong. You can easily find the armor inside - there is no security system at all, so you can just go in and take it. Another copy of the armor is at South Boston Military Checkpoint, in the southeast of Diamond City. Go around the building until you see a cave. Inside it is an X-01 power armor of the first version. You will need expert level hacking skill to open the terminal.

Once again, we remind you that this armor will only be available if you are at level 40 or higher.
