But other than color and general appearance, the materials described do not affect anything.

In addition, you can increase the actual height of the fence to three units by stacking fence blocks on top of each other. Another useful feature is to place torches on top of the fence to illuminate the area. There are only two possibilities to overcome the obstacle - be a spider and crawl over it, or drink the Jumping Elixir potion.
How to create a fence in Minecraft
To create fences from any type of wood in Minecraft version 1.8 and earlier, two blocks of sticks and four blocks of wood from which the player wants to make a fence are required (the type of wood only affects the color - the appearance will be the same for both spruce and dark oak). All this is combined on the workbench into three fence blocks. You can craft a fence in Minecraft (in versions 1.8 and older) using only 6 blocks of sticks.

On the other hand, there are advantages - for example, the iron grille has an original appearance and is able to transmit sunlight. The hellish fence, for example, has a frightening appearance, but requires the construction of a portal to Hell, which is not at all easy to become the owner of.
