Ivan Ilyich Sergiev, better known as John of Kronstadt, was born in 1829 in the village of Sura in the north of the Arkhangelsk province. Ivan was sent to study at the Arkhangelsk parish school. It was torment. The boy didn't understand. But he prayed, and here is another miracle (Father John himself tells): “Once it was already evening, everyone went to bed. Only I couldn’t sleep, I still couldn’t understand anything from what I had gone through, I still didn’t read well, didn’t understand and didn’t remember anything from what was said. Such melancholy attacked me: I fell on my knees and began to pray fervently. I don’t know how long I stayed in this position, but suddenly it definitely shocked me all over. It was as if a veil had fallen from my eyes, as if the mind had opened in my head and the teacher of that day, his lesson, was clearly presented to me; I even remembered what and what he was talking about. Ivan successfully graduated from school, was immediately transferred to the seminary, and subsequently admitted to the St. Petersburg Theological Academy at public expense.

Every person, clan, nation, country has a genius (angel). Michael is the genius of the Jewish people, he is what unites this people, creates their unique physiognomy, determines their fate. It is not at all necessary to believe that these are the people chosen by the Almighty, but it is impossible to doubt that the Jewish people have a genius...

Initially, he was going to take the veil as a monk, he thought about going as a missionary to China, or maybe to Siberia or America. But then it occurred to him that the Petersburgers "know Christ no more than the savages of some Patagonia." John married, was ordained a priest and accepted a position in the Kronstadt Cathedral of the Apostle Andrew the First-Called. He behaved not quite normally: he walked through the slums, helped the poor, handed out money, and if there was none, then his own clothes. Colleagues, not without irony, used to say to his wife: “And yours came again barefoot today.” They took pity on the poor priest, and succeeded in making John's salary payable not to him, but to her. Then the priest began to earn extra money by teaching the law of God, and he distributed all this money to the poor.

Subsequently, he will give a huge scope to his charitable activities. But for the scale, means are needed that are not given to everyone. John was given because he was not a banal priest. He served God emotionally, with delight and tenderness, now gesticulating impetuously, now bursting into tears. No pretentiousness, everything is natural, sincere. This attracted the people, especially since there was a rumor about the healings performed by the Kronstadt priest. About the first case of healing in his diary, an entry was preserved (February 19, 1867): “Lord! I thank you, as if by my prayer, through the laying on of my priestly hands, you healed the youth (Kostylev). Then miracles will be more and more. John healed, prophesied, caused rain, stopped epidemics, they say, even resurrected the dead. The miracle was his daily routine. And where there is a miracle, there is faith, and with it donations.

But large donations came only after the whole of Russia found out about the miracle worker. On December 20, 1883, the Novoe Vremya newspaper published a statement signed by dozens of people grateful to Father John: “We, the undersigned, consider it our moral duty to testify our sincere sincere gratitude to the archpriest of St. Andrew’s Cathedral in Kronstadt, Fr. Ioann Ilyich Sergiev for healing us from various and serious illnesses that we suffered from and from which medicine could not heal us before, although some of us spent a long time in hospitals and were treated by doctors. After all-Russian fame came to John, very serious amounts began to pass through his hands (according to various estimates, from 150 thousand to a million rubles a year). He immediately distributed some of this money, and let some of it go to large charitable projects. So, he founded the House of Diligence, a school for the poor, a women's almshouse and an orphanage. And besides, considerable sums were transferred to numerous schools, hospitals, monasteries, almshouses. Moreover, John sacrificed on a whim. And not only Orthodox, but also Muslims and Jews. “I have no money of my own,” he said. They donate to me, and I donate. I often do not even know who sent me this or that donation and from where. Therefore, I donate where there is a need and where this money can be useful.”

Over time, the popularity of Father John grew. Crowds of people flocked to the Kronstadt Andreevsky Church from everywhere, and the priest naturally drove these crowds to holy madness. Especially during general confessions, which he conducted contrary to the practice that existed in the church. What is a general confession? Here is how eyewitnesses-participants tell about it: “All those who were in the cathedral, quite frankly, not embarrassed by the mass of people, shouted out their sins, not excluding the most terrible ones, and, moreover, they shouted very loudly so that, if possible, Father John would hear them. There was a groan in the cathedral, sweat rolled in hail not from the heat, but from the shock experienced. Literally everyone sobbed without the slightest exception, and along with these cries and groans, human souls were miraculously cleansed.

Another testimony: “Father John stood on the pulpit in front of the image of the Savior and fervently prayed, asking the Lord for merciful forgiveness to the whole mass of the loudly penitent and weeping people. He looked at us with his deep eyes and suddenly... large tears rolled down his face like a hail... And at that moment the excitement of the sobbing people reached its highest level! Other aspects of the myth of the serpent, which must die in order to rise again and allow the earth to flourish, can be considered. Interesting: at the behest of a wise shepherd, the spirit of the Russian people appears. Perhaps, here you can see with a carnal eye the Russian god hovering over the exalted crowd of people. However, there is nothing particularly unusual in this. Approximately the same thing could be observed during secular gatherings in any Russian village. Here is how Nikolai Zlatovratsky described it in his “Essays on the Peasant Community”: “In the minutes of its apogee, the gathering becomes simply an open mutual confession and mutual exposure. At the same moment, when, apparently, the private interests of everyone reach the highest degree of tension, in turn, public interests and justice reach the highest degree of control. The spirit that unites people into a community hovers over the noisy crowd and enlightens everyone. Noise, shouting... And suddenly - once, everything is decided, everyone is happy. Zlatovratsky does not understand: what was decided, when? Yes, now, you don’t see, people are already dispersing. Come with us to drink worldly wine. This is how the god of the Russian world works.

In the 19th century, Russian society was gradually taken over by a religion that can be conditionally called worship of the people, since its adherents revere the God of the People. Not the people as a mass, crowd, population, but the People as a divine essence, which was worshiped in the form of the people, living peasants. The common people became an icon of this new religion, an image. Its various variants are embodied in the images that appeared to the Russian classics, whose works can be considered the sacred scripture of faith in the People. And the writers themselves - the prophets, which was the Russian people. Let's say, he appeared to Turgenev in the form of Kasyan with a Beautiful Sword, Khory, Kalinych and a cloud of other characters in the Hunter's Notes. Dostoevsky - in the form of a peasant Marey. Tolstoy - in the form of Platon Karataev and the peasant Fyodor (who enlightened Levin). Tyutchev - in the form of the king of heaven, who, in a slave form, proceeded from his native (Russian) land. Every nation has its own divine People. Failure to understand this leads to unfortunate misunderstandings. During the formation of national states (XVIII-XIX centuries), the entire European world turned to folk roots. They looked for the foundations of national identity. And Russia did not lag behind. The future Slavophil Ivan Kireevsky in his "European" just warned against imitating the European search for national roots. There, they say, "enlightenment and nationality are one, for the former developed from the latter." And in our country “to look for the national means to look for the uneducated”. This was written in 1832, in the second part of the article "The Nineteenth Century". But much later, Kireevsky (already close to the Optina Elder Macarius) demonstrated an equally complete misunderstanding of the essence of the problem: the simple Russian people became the bearer of genuine Christian principles. Not pagan. And not even the people themselves ...

This kind of misunderstanding is full of Russian wisdom, confusing the people and the people. And what can we say about ordinary peasants, whose brains were so dislocated by the servants of the alien god that the poor fellows saw only Jesus, the son of the Jewish god, everywhere. A typical example: under the shamanic (and what else to call it?) influence of Father John, the sect of the Johnites was born among the people. And what? The sectarians believed that the Kronstadt priest was Christ, who had come to earth again. John himself did not teach them this, of course. He considered himself Orthodox. That is, he also did not understand at all what sacred substance he was dealing with during his open confessions.

Populism of John of Kronstadt was expressed primarily in social projects. He opened the House of Diligence, where thousands of the desperate were provided with work and housing. He founded the temperance fraternity. He really helped thousands of people, distributing money to those in need and promoting his charitable projects. However, this is not all. John's populism was also expressed in political activity. For example, he blessed the creation of the Union of the Russian People, became its member, and supported it with hefty sums. Alas, these Black Hundreds were just as confused people as the Johnites. Honoring the Russian people (as an icon of the God of the People), they considered themselves Christians. They thought that God could only be Jewish. Hence the cognitive dissonance: both reverence and hatred of Jews.

Ambrose, of course, was far from popular worship and populist propaganda, he did not write articles and novels in which ideal images of the People would be drawn. But he, like the classics of Russian literature, like the simple men and women who came to him, like everyone else, was taken up by a wave of new religiosity rising from the depths of the collective unconscious.

John himself said: "I am not an enemy of the Jews, because Christ is from their midst." But, having condemned the Kishinev pogrom, he nevertheless later declared that "the Jews themselves are mainly to blame for the pogrom." Of course he was an anti-Semite. But this was a special anti-Semitism, coming from dual faith: the Russian god seethed in a person, and the god of the Jews had to serve. Hence the breakdown. Bi-faith anti-Semitism is characteristic of the areas of distribution of Abrahamic religions. The fury of the native gods, suppressed by the god of Abraham, comes from the subconscious of a person and takes in his mind a stupid form of hatred for the Jews, in which, indeed, one can see the god who chose them as his people and thus created their mentality, character, habits. The Jews, in turn, feel with their livers the danger coming from the indigenous people. They fall into a panic, even if the People are throwing crowds in the square not against them, but, say, against the lawlessness of the Caucasians, as was the case on December 11th. They think that the pogroms have already begun. Well no.

But pogroms can begin if the roots of popular unrest are not seen. First you need to at least understand how the people differ from the people. It's simple: the people are what Lenin called the masses, and the people are what Jung called the numinosis. Numinoz is a real-life demonic creature with its own mysterious troubles and specific goals, capable of suddenly grabbing you by the throat and turning you into a prophet, hero, scum or jerk. The religious ecstasies of the parishioners during the open confessions of John of Kronstadt were clear symptoms of the awakening of the Numinosa People. Batiushka loved the people and evoked the People, who eventually emerged from the bowels of the collective unconscious people. And he did many things with the hands of this people. For example, he made a revolution. Its mass enthusiasm (obsession) and mass murders (victims) are the essence of the deeds of the People, taking sacred revenge for centuries of oblivion, punishing their people for religious blindness.

Having overthrown the Judeo-Christian god, the People created a people's theocracy, fed (no matter what they say) and provided medical care to the population of the country, built factories, defeated the German Nazi god (another version of the People), split the atom, went into space ... But so and was not identified as a god on whom human life depends. And in particular - the fate of the rulers. Those who mentioned his name in vain ("The People want to know", "everything in the name of the People"), all the unreasonable "servants of the People" were thrown into the trash. The rulers who came to replace them at first flirted with the People under the name Electorate. But now even that isn't there. The enemies of the People are trying to drive it back into the underground of the unconscious. So, let's wait for the explosion. And pray for it to pass.


A few words about the history of the Black Hundred movement.

Under the name of the Black Hundreds, a movement is known that united such organizations as the Union of the Russian People, the Union of Michael the Archangel, etc. The Black Hundreds did not have a common single leader.
And the very name of the Black Hundred, they, in their own words, inherited from the Black Hundred of the famous Kuzma Minin, which became the core of the militia that stopped the Great Troubles of the early seventeenth century.
And the very word "black" in this case meant coming from "black" people from the people and did not carry any negative meaning..
The first Black Hundred organizations were formed at the very beginning of the 20th century. Their goal was very good - to appeal to the simple "black" people and rally people around the Motherland and the throne. And this goal was very relevant then.
After the death of Emperor Alexander III, the liberals again raised their heads, and with them the ultra-lefts. And under their influence, for a considerable part of the people, Russia ceased to be a value and ceased to be the Motherland ..
These people, in pure Russian, dirtyly cursed their Motherland, its history, culture, faith, traditions .. And at the same time, this scolding was presented as a "fight for freedom" for some kind of "advancement" ...

And a similar infection spread very actively a hundred years ago. And in order to fight it, in order to rally the healthy part of the people, ready to resist this plague, Black Hundred organizations were created.

The main idea of ​​the Black Hundreds was the motto of Count Nikolai Uvarov, proclaimed in the time of Emperor Nicholas I "Orthodoxy, autocracy, nationality."
That is, it was planned to unite people around spiritual values, the monarchy and folk culture.

In addition, the Black Hundreds also performed many other secondary tasks, one of which was the fight against drunkenness. Thus, many temperance societies joined the Black Hundred organizations. And the gathering place for the Black Hundreds were tea houses, which then became an alternative to taverns at the beginning of the last century, in which the population got drunk ..

The Black Hundreds also promoted the enlightenment of the people. In this way they helped financially open and run parochial schools in the provinces. In these schools, ordinary people received basic knowledge, coupled with spiritual values.

At the first stage, many people joined the Black Hundreds movement. famous people. So St. Right John of Kronstadt blessed the creation of this movement and personally entered into it. The wife and daughter of the great F. M. Dostoevsky were also members of this movement.

The Left sensed very strong enemies in the Chernostenets. And during the events of 1905, the Social Revolutionaries and Bolsheviks staged terrorist attacks against the Black Hundreds.

But the Black Hundred movement had a very serious stumbling block, over which it stumbled and began to fall apart. This stumbling block was xenophobia. So after the events of 1905, the Black Hundreds considered that Jews and foreigners were to blame for the outbreak of trouble. In part they were right. There were quite a few Jews in the liberal and left parties. But the problem was that the Black Hundreds began to persecute non-liberals and non-leftists. They began to organize pogroms against ordinary Jews and residents of the national outskirts, who had never heard of leftist and liberal movements.

And the incitement of interethnic hatred, started by the Black Hundreds, became a bomb that blew up both the Black Hundred movement itself and the entire Russian Empire as a whole ..
The Black Hundreds were the first to aggravate the national question in Russia. Before them, the national question did not exist in Russia at all. Any person, of any nationality, could realize himself and did it successfully. Russia really united a large number of peoples who felt at home in the Empire.

The xenophobia started by the Black Hundreds did not lead to unity, but to a completely opposite result. Jews and other foreigners, under the influence of xenophobia, went en masse to the liberals and revolutionaries. The creation of provincial nationalist groups and parties began, set up to separate the national outskirts from Russia.

A collapse began in the Black Hundred movement itself. So part of the intelligentsia left him, ready to support the monarchy, but not accepting xenophobia. St. John of Kronstadt also came out of it.

Among those who remained, too, not everything was in order. Scandals began in the movement, connected with drunkenness and revelry of its members, with fraud, and crime.

The Black Hundreds had their own deputies in the State Dumas of various convocations, but they did not play a big role there.

And finally, by February 1917, the Black Hundred movement finally lost any weight. And in the end, during the February Revolution, not a single Black Hundredist supported the crumbling throne.

The Provisional Government did not perceive the Black Hundreds as opponents and not one of them was subjected to persecution, while the former Imperial ministers and the Sovereign himself with his family, on the contrary, were arrested and a trial was being prepared against them ..

In Soviet times, the former Black Hundreds, who did not leave the country and remained in their organizations until 1917, were all destroyed. And the very word Black Hundreds became almost abusive.

In our time, organizations have appeared that consider themselves the heirs of the Black Hundreds. But unfortunately, many of them step on the same rake of xenophobia that their predecessors stepped on.

What and whose spirit did the people of Chisinau show over the Jews? In order to protect Russia from a possible repetition of the God-fighting, Russophobic nightmare that she experienced in the 20th century, it is necessary, firstly, to restore historical truth in its undistorted form, and secondly, to deeply and comprehensively analyze our national tragedy, its cause and effect and draw appropriate conclusions.

“The vast majority of wars in history had a religious character, and such global military confrontations, such as, for example, the armed struggle between Islam and Christianity, lasted, then fading, then flaring up again, for many centuries. But not one of these clashes, either in the fierceness of the struggle, or in scale, or in its consequences, can be compared with the religious war, which has been stubbornly and continuously waged by Judaism against the Church of Christ for two millennia.

The spiritual principles of the two sides are completely opposite and irreconcilable. The fact is that modern Judaism does not have, in the Christian sense, any positive religious content. From the moment the Jews crucified the Messiah, Jesus Christ, the Son of God, whom they should have accepted with reverence and love, for it was to them that God entrusted the knowledge that Christ would come to save man from sin, from that moment the foundation of Judaism became militant anti-Christianity. Hence all the difficulties of Russian-Jewish relations, for Holy Russia for centuries recognized itself as the protector and main guardian of Christian shrines, both in the spiritual and state spheres.

“The irreconcilable attitude of Judaism towards Christianity is rooted in the absolute incompatibility of the mystical, moral, ethical and ideological content of these religions. This creed is based on the assertion that the Jews were chosen by God Himself for dominion and should strive in every possible way to achieve this goal. From this follows another fundamental position of Judaism, which says that a Jew has no moral obligations to a non-believer. The concepts of justice and mercy, honesty and gratitude, from this point of view, are not applicable to a Christian or a Muslim, because, strictly speaking, they cannot even be considered human beings...

So: the Orthodox understanding of one's chosenness is an understanding of the obligation to serve one's neighbor. The chosen one of the Jew is the chosen one for dominion over the surrounding people. It is clear that the contact of such strikingly different views on life and on one's place in it could not but cause painful, destructive, catastrophic phenomena. Russian history - the best of that the confirmation".

So the implemented technology is understandable to everyone, only many of our fellow citizens categorically do not want to understand it, it is better for them not to see or hear anything, to live in the blindness of ignorance or the darkness of madness, drunkenness and debauchery.

Thus, all attempts by Jewish "human rights activists" to accuse Russian patriots protesting against the flagrant Jewish dominance in modern Russia of some kind of mythical "anti-Semitism" are doomed to failure in advance. Fighting for the liberation of the Russian people from the hateful Jewish yoke, we are not speaking on our own behalf, we are not expressing our personal conjectures and opinions. We preach the primordial dogma of our Holy Mother Church, confirmed by the two-thousand-year-old authority of patristic Tradition and the deeds of contemporary Local Councils.

Do you want to judge us? Please! But know that together with us you are dragging our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Himself, His holy Apostles and a great host of holy saints of God, whose teachings we publicly profess and preach, to the dock.

God is not mocked. That is why we are not afraid of anything. How many times have the theomachists and Christ-haters tried to silence the voice of church teaching! How much Russian blood they shed, how many Christians they tortured, how much sorrow they brought to Russia and our people!..

But on the blood of the martyrs, the Church teaches, the Truth of God is affirmed. She abundantly watered the road to the Kingdom of Heaven - the longed-for land of the eternal Father's love and human bliss. Many hosts of Christians have already walked this road before us, fearing neither the threats nor the punishments of the vain “this world”. God willing, and we will not disgrace the Christian title.

Russian Hasidim categorically opposed the state celebration in Russia of the memory of the holy righteous John of Kronstadt, dearly loved by all the Russian people, accusing the saint of ... anti-Semitism and supporting Jewish pogroms. According to the members of the Federation of Jewish Communities of the Russian Federation, Father John does not deserve to be remembered, since he was a member of the Union of the Russian People.

Such a sharp Russophobic reaction of the Hasidim, headed by the American rabbi Berl Lazar, was caused by the proposal to include in the calendar of Russian holidays and anniversaries June 14 is the day of the glorification of St. John of Kronstadt.

One can strongly feel the influence from the outside of malicious people who incited our people to such an unprecedented pogrom. The heart of the king, who cares about the common good and peace of the people and about the correct course of the life of the state, especially mourns this terrible bloody incident. And when does it
happened? On Easter week, when all rational creatures, heavenly and earthly, angels and faithful Christians rejoice over the resurrection of Christ from the dead, as the beginning of the general resurrection of the entire human race. What thoughtlessness or misunderstanding of the greatest Christian holiday, what stupidity of the Russian people!

What disbelief! What a delusion!

Instead of a Christian holiday, they staged a foul-killing holiday for Satan - they turned the earth into hell, as it were. Is this what Christians have learned from Christ, their heavenly Teacher, meek and humble in heart, Who "will not break a bruised reed and will not quench a smoking flax"
(Mt. 12:20), that is, he will not humiliate the heart of the contrite and humble, and will not quench the soul that smokes with faith and repentance, will not allow it to die, until it completes its repentance? Russian people, our brothers! What are you doing? Why did you become barbarians - thugs and robbers of people living in the same fatherland with you, under the shadow and authority of one Russian tsar and rulers appointed from him?

Why did they allow pernicious arbitrariness and bloody robbery reprisals against people like you? You have forgotten your Christian calling and the words of Christ: "Learn from Me, for I am meek and lowly in heart" (Matthew 11:29). Listen to how He taught His disciples about meekness and gentleness. One day He, wanting to go to Jerusalem, sent messengers to a Samaritan village to prepare people for His heart. But they did not receive Him there, because He had the appearance of traveling to Jerusalem.

Seeing this, His disciples James and John said: Lord! do you want us to say that fire comes down from heaven and consumes them, as Elijah did? But He, turning to them, rebuked them and said: You do not know what kind of spirit you are. For the Son of Man did not come to destroy the souls of men, but to save. And they went to another village. This is what the behavior of a Christian should be, this is what his spirit should be. What and whose spirit did the people of Chisinau show over the Jews?

The spirit of the devil - but whoever does not have the Spirit of Christ, meekness, humility, patience, obedience to authority, he is not His (Rom. 8:9), he is not Christ's, but the servant of the devil and inherits a fate similar to him. The disciples James and John, out of jealousy for the Lord and love for Him, wanted to destroy the Samaritans with heavenly fire, but the Lord strictly forbade them to do so. Oh, how menacingly He would forbid the Kishinev thugs to kill Jewish townspeople and smash and destroy their homes!

There is nothing sacred for them, there is no immortal soul, there is no God, there is no resurrection and there is no retribution for deeds, there is no impartial, precise, strict judgment for every word and deed, and therefore, they say: smash, kill, burn, steal, rape in every possible way neighbor, lie, hypocrite, do not obey any authorities, be your own boss - you will not be responsible for anything. The well-known Russian atheist-writer (Tolstoy) is especially guilty of corruption and godlessness of the Russian people, mainly of the intelligentsia, and in general malicious publicists are guilty of that; their godless writings, scattered in Russia in millions of printed sheets, flooded all of Russia and pushed the youth away from the foundations of religious and civil faith. May the unholy, evil womb of the devil, proud before the Creator, be cursed, in which for the first time a daring dream was born to equal God and declare war on Him, His eternal truth, holiness, infinite wisdom, beauty and invincible power. This worldwide evil force has angered all of Russia, has produced and continues to produce against her all the upheavals, revolts, unbelief, blasphemy, disobedience, ignorance. Turn to God, Russia, who has sinned before Him more, heavier than all the peoples of the earth - turn in weeping and tears, in faith and virtue. You sinned most of all, for you had and still have an invaluable life treasure - the Orthodox faith with the saving Church, and trampled, spat upon it in the face of your proud and crafty sons and daughters, who consider themselves educated, but true education, i.e. in the image of God, without the Church it cannot be.”

In his book The Living Ear, St. John expressed the opinion that the worst enemies of Orthodoxy are Leo Tolstoy and the Catholics. Regarding papism, he wrote: “The Catholics invented a new head of the Church, humiliating the one true Head of the Church - Christ. The most harmful thing in Christianity, in this God-revealed, heavenly religion, is the primacy of a man in the Church, for example, the pope, and his imaginary infallibility. It is precisely in his dogma of infallibility that the greatest error lies, for the pope is a sinful man and it is a disaster if he thinks of himself that he is infallible. How many of the greatest errors, disastrous for human souls, have been invented by the Catholic papal church - in dogmas, in rites, in canonical rules, in divine services, in the deadly, malicious attitudes of Catholics towards the Orthodox, in blasphemy and slander against the Orthodox Church, in swearing addressed to the Orthodox Church and Orthodox Christians! And in all this, the supposedly infallible pope is to blame, and the doctrine of his Jesuits, their spirit of lies and duplicity. The Lord Himself is always inherent in His Church—what is the vicegerent for—the pope? And can a sinful person be the vicar of the Lord? Can not. There is a viceroy of a king, a viceroy of a patriarch, but no one can be a viceroy, a deputy of the Lord, the beginningless Tsar and Head of the Church. The Pope fettered the spiritual freedom and conscience of Catholic Christians. Catholics are jealous of the pope, and not of Christ, they fight for the pope, not for Christ, and their zeal for faith always turns into passionate, misanthropic, frenzied fanaticism, fanaticism of blood and sword, bonfires, intransigence, double-mindedness, lies and cunning.

About Protestants and about heretics in general, the holy shepherd said: “Without the Head, Christ, the Church is not a Church, but an unauthorized assembly. Such are the Lutherans, the Russian schismatics, the Tolstoyans. Human weakness, blindness, human passions have now affected the churches of those who have fallen away. Lutherans don't pray for the dead, neither do Anglicans. Protestants have a completely distorted concept of the Church, for they do not have the grace of a lawful priesthood, there are no sacraments, except for baptism, and there is no most important thing: communion of the Body and Blood of Christ; there is no tribe of heaven - the Church of Heaven: they do not recognize the saints; there is no tribe of hell - they do not recognize the souls of the dead and do not pray for them, considering it unnecessary. Anglicans and Lutherans want no images to be revered! Yes, this is absurd, absurd. After all, the saints are the friends of God, temples, His members, in which He rests. How not to honor their images? The Lutherans fell away from the Church and were left without its Head, the Anglicans too: they have no Church, their union with its Head is broken, there is no help from the almighty, and the devil fights with all his strength, deceit, and keeps everyone in his charm and death. Many who perish in godlessness and debauchery.

Regarding the relationship of St. John with the Jews, it should be emphasized that he considered the policy of the Russian tsars towards unbaptized Jews with their isolation from the general mass of the Russian people in the settled areas as a very wise decision, because he believed that only this would save the Russian people from inevitable dependence, which happened later in Russia. Therefore, the priest did not bless in 1890 the project of V. Solovyov on the expansion of the rights of Jews in Russia, which was later rejected by the Sovereign himself.

Meanwhile, the direct confrontation of St. John with the Jews emerged only during the revolution of 1905. The detractors of St. John claimed that his activities were aimed at obtaining money, that all his prayers and blessings were allegedly paid for. Gross slander! He never asked for anything. What was offered, he took, but for the transfer to the poor. He almost never had to be at home and the furnishings of his apartment were very modest, although more than a million rubles a year passed through his hands. Only Pharisees and hypocrites manage not to have enemies and be respected by everyone. Christ and the apostles had many enemies and perished from their fierce malice. The righteous man of Kronstadt could not help but have enemies.

The dirtiest and basest enemy of the great shepherd was the Jewish press. For three years (1905-1908), she daily mocked the pious elder, mocked his miracles, his almsgiving, and the reverence of his admirers. Slanderous legends were composed, women's devotion to him was defiled, the popular impulse was spat on. St. John courageously spoke out against the revolution and in church sermons reminded the authorities of its duty to suppress turmoil. From him, the Russian authorities learned with amazement that the Apostle Paul himself obliges to use the sword. The Jews did not forgive this St. John. Taking under their protection Leo Tolstoy, who denies the Church and the state, the Jews fell upon St. John, who came to the defense of the Orthodox Church and the Russian state.

Once, during the removal of the Holy Gifts from the royal gates, a certain Jewish student approached the saint and hit him in the ear with all his strength, which caused him to become deaf in that ear and shed Holy Communion. Further, in Kronstadt, an armed mutiny of military sailors took place, among which many revolutionary Jews acted. These latter decided, taking the opportunity, to deal with St. John. However, the saint figured out this trick and did not succumb to persuasion to go and persuade the rebels to lay down their arms, but instead sailed to Petersburg. After this failure, the revolutionaries decided to lure St. John to reprisal, taking advantage of his unceasing concern for the sick, and handed him over to a colleague that they had a patient who needed his prayers. This time, the saint had a premonition that somewhere along the way he might be met by enemies, about which he warned those accompanying him several times, but they continued to ask him for the imaginary patient. The saint was taken into a very rich house and offered to visit the sick man in the next room. When St. John went in, the room was closed from the inside, and the sound of a struggle was heard from there.
