Works as a browser plug-in, needs to be installed on a computer.
After installation, access to the DMV service opens automatically when you are authorized on the VK website. The list of music tracks is also uploaded to the site without any action on your part. To download a song, just click next to it on the icon in the form of an arrow pointing down.
To quickly go to the DMV website, just click on the extension icon in the browser bar.
SaveFrom Helper
The SaneFrom.net helper is free app, which embeds its component simultaneously in all installed browsers - Opera, Mozilla Firefox, Yandex.Browser and Google Chrome. After installing it, you will be able to download music directly from the player on the VK website. The SaneFrom helper adds a download button (in the form of the same arrow as the DMV) to the panel of the selected track.
VKMusic
VKMusic is a classic Windows application with a separate window that provides access to VKontakte media content, makes it possible to play it and download it to a PC. It works regardless of the web browser and whether it is logged into the VK account. More precisely, in order to use VKMusic, you must log in to the social network through the application itself.
Next, enter this menu again and tell the program where to download music from. The choice is offered:
The top field of the window displays a list of songs loaded into the program, but not saved on the PC. At the bottom - what you have downloaded or are about to download. To add a music track to the download list, double-click on it.
By the way, VKMusic can download tracks by links and names. To do this, click the "Add" button, enter information about the song into the field that opens (shown in the screenshot below) and click "Download".
Browser extension "Download music from VKontakte vk.com" for Opera
Download music from VKontakte vk.com is one of the few extensions that really works after updating the VK website in 2017, and without glitches, frills and special conditions. After installation, it adds a download button and information about the bitrate (quality) of the recording to each track in the VKontakte player.
MusVK browser extension for Google Chrome
MusVK - if not a complete analogue, then a very similar extension to "Download music from VKontakte vk.com". It also adds its own download button to the VK player and bitrate information.
VKSaver browser extension for Chrome and Yandex
The plugin supports Google Chrome and Yandex web browsers. Requires installation on a PC plus additional installation of the component in the browser. It works on the same principle as the 2 extensions described above - it adds a download button to the VKontakte player.
However, when this button is pressed, the download of the track does not start immediately, but after confirmation.
Extract music track from browser cache
This option will seem to you, most likely, the most inconvenient, but it is the only one that will always work, regardless of any changes on the site, bans and the introduction of paid subscriptions. As long as VKontakte users can listen to music through a browser. Why is that? Yes, because during playback the track is cached - it is loaded into the temporary memory of the playback program on the user's computer and remains there until the cache is cleared. Our task is simply to find it, rename it and save it in a more suitable place.
There are at least two ways to extract a music track from the browser cache.
Method 1: Searching for a link to a track in the element code
- Let's go to the VK music section and find the desired audio recording. Click on it with the right mouse button and select "View code (element)" from the menu.
- In the table that opens after that, we will find the "Network" section. Until the track starts playing, this should be empty.
- Next, click on the Play button - we will start playing the composition. The table will begin to be filled with records, and if not, after 20-30 seconds after the start of playback, press F5 on the keyboard. One of the entries that will appear here is a direct link to the track. Outwardly, it does not look like a link we are used to, but it is quite simple to determine it: by type and size (look in the Type and Size columns). A link to a music file is of type media or audio/mpeg (different browsers vary) and is several megabytes in size.
- Having found the desired link, double-click on it with the mouse in the Name column.
- If this is indeed a music file, after clicking, we will be transferred to another browser tab, where the track will start playing. It remains to press the download button (circled in the screenshot below), give the composition a human name and save it in the desired folder.
Method 2: search for a track in the browser's temporary files folder
Web browser temporary file folders are hidden deep in the bowels of the system. In order not to search for a long time, copy the path to the desired folder from here, paste it into the address bar of Windows Explorer and click the go button.
- For Google Chrome: %localappdata%\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Cache
- For Opera: %localappdata%\Opera Software\Opera Stable\Cache
- For Mozilla Firefox: %localappdata%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ProfileName\Cache(you will have to substitute the user profile name yourself).
- For Yandex: %localappdata%\Yandex\YandexBrowser\User Data\Default\Cache
As you can see, the folders are not empty. The content in them is a wagon, and that's it - with incomprehensible alphanumeric names without extensions. For the convenience of the search, we will sort the files by the date of modification and, without taking our eyes off them, we will start playing the desired track in the browser.
During playback, the music file will be downloaded to a temporary folder, but since it will have the same incomprehensible name as the others, you can recognize it only by size (to track the size change, do not forget to periodically press F5).
To make sure it's the same track, just rename the file with the mp3 extension. And then open it with the player and listen.
Guessed? Save the file in a more suitable location. Didn't guess? Looking for more. By the way, so that nothing interferes, you can first clear the browser cache.
Both of these methods are applicable for downloading music not only from VK, but from any website - Odnoklassniki, Facebook and others, because there are many restrictions on the Internet. And they are also good because they do not require the installation of additional programs, that is, they give us the opportunity to replenish our personal music library, for example, at a work computer or in in public places.
